About Lazy-Guy

Hey there, welcome to my blog! I’m the Lazy Guy—a network engineer with over 10 years of experience.

Welcome to my blog! I’m a network engineer with over 10 years of experience in:

  • Firewalls (Juniper, Paloalto, Asa, Checkpoint, Forti)
  • Router and switch (Cisco)
  • Wireless (Cisco, Aruba)
  • Proxy (Bluecoat, FortiADC)
  • Aws (CDN, WAF, Route53 )
  • Cisco fabric with NDFC

Academic:

CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure Certification (Certified in 2015)

Degree in Computing and networking

Hey, I’m the “Lazy Guy”—not because I slack off, but because I’ve learned the hard way that overcomplicating things is a one-way ticket to burnout. I’m a network infrastructure admin, juggling a insane mix of Cisco, Juniper, FortiADC, AWS CDN, and more. My days (and way too many nights) are packed with security audits, patching vulnerabilities, upgrading systems, and troubleshooting a thousand issues—from TLS glitches to DDoS nightmares. Oh, and don’t get me started on the OT during non-office hours. It’s a grind, and I’m not here to pretend it’s glamorous.

Why “Lazy Guy”?

Call it survival. When you’re drowning in tickets, chasing zero-days, or stuck in a 3 a.m. outage, you realize something’s gotta give. For me, it’s the chaos—I’m obsessed with making things simple, secure, and automated. Why wrestle with a problem manually when a script or a smart config can do it better? “Lazy” isn’t about doing less; it’s about working smarter so I don’t lose my mind. If I can automate a patch rollout or streamline a firewall rule, that’s a win—for me and the network.

The Daily Hustle

Here’s what I’m up against:

  • Security Audits: Digging through logs and configs to prove we’re not a hacker’s playground.
  • Vulnerability Patching: Racing to close holes before they’re exploited, often on a tight deadline.
  • Infrastructure Upgrades: Swapping out gear or tweaking fabric-EVPN without breaking everything.
  • Troubleshooting: A thousand fires—think FortiADC TLS tantrums or AWS routing hiccups—usually when I’m off the clock.

It’s a lot. Too much, sometimes. But it’s taught me that complexity is the enemy. The more moving parts, the more chances for something to blow up in my face.

My Mission

This blog, lazy-guy.xyz, is my outlet. It’s where I dump the chaos—real-world fixes, rants, and experiments—and share how I keep things running without losing my sanity. Expect deep dives into network quirks (like that FortiADC TLS mess), security tricks (WAF tuning, bot blocking), and my growing obsession with crypto/DeFi networking. I’m all about stripping things down to what works: simple setups, rock-solid security, and automation to save the day.

Why I Do It

I’ve been at this long enough to know the network doesn’t care about your sleep schedule. But I also know there’s a better way—less manual grind, more clever solutions. If I can help you dodge an all-nighter or secure your infra with less headache, that’s the goal. Stick around, laugh at my pain, and maybe pick up a trick or two. Let’s make this admin life a little lazier—in the best way possible.
